Chapter 3. WORKING WITH RECORDS

   

 


Downloading the Records File

NOTE: Records contained in the records file are sequenced in the same order in which they were added to the Download Cart.

To download the records file:

  1. Select View Download Cart from the Cat Admin menu (see The Cat Admin Menu for details).
    • The View Download Cart screen displays. Records shown in the Download Cart are listed in the order in which they were added to the cart.
    • The total number of records currently saved to the cart is shown at the top of the screen.
    • The screen shows a Description for each record in the list, and the name of the Database from which the record was taken.
  2. Use the drop-down menu to select the type of records you wish to delete; either All Records, BIB Record(s) or Authority Record(s).
    • The default selection is All Records.
  3. Use the checkboxes to select the record(s) you wish to download.
    • A checkmark checkmark indicates the associated record is selected for download.
    • An empty checkbox checkbox indicates the record is not selected for download.
    • Clicking a checkbox repeatedly will toggle it on and off.
    • Click the Select All link to select the checkboxes for all records in the cart.
    • Click the Deselect all link to deselect the checkboxes for all records in the cart.
  4. Click the Download button.
  5. Use the standard procedures for your web browser to download the MARC record file.

    NOTE: Be sure to use the .mrc extension at the end of the file name.

  6. Delete the downloaded records from the Download Cart (see Managing the Download Cart for details).
