Introduction - Overview
This User Guide is designed to provide a working understanding of the features and functions of the Authority Control option available for use with CAT Administration.
Authority Control within RESEARCHit, SHAREit and VERSO helps you ensure consistency of headings in bibliographic records by validating the headings against authority records to obtain the authoritative, or preferred, headings as well as the “see” and “see also” references for personal, corporate and meeting names; uniform titles; series titles and subject headings. Authority records also provide cross-references for related and incorrect forms of headings.
Records processed through Authority Control can be downloaded for import into a local cataloging system, or can be opened for additional editing using the optional AGCat editor (see the AGCat Client User Guide for additional information).
