Adding a Pickup Location

You can add a new Pickup Location for your library.

To add a Pickup Location:

    • The Edit Pickup Location screen displays in an additional browser window.
  2. Enter the desired display sequence for the Pickup Location in the Sequence Number text box.

    If you do not enter a Sequence Number, a value of “0” will be inserted when the Pickup Location is saved.

  3. Enter a name for the Pickup Location in the Pickup Location Name text box.
  4. Select the desired home location affiliation for the Pickup Location from the Home Location menu.
    • The Home Location menu lists all currently defined branch locations for your library.
    • The default selection for the Home Location is Not Assigned.
  5. If appropriate, select the desired reserve shelf to be assigned automatically for all “hard” reserves associated with the Pickup Location from the Reserve Shelf to Use menu.

    The Reserve Shelf to Use menu is available only if your library has enabled the Allow library to specify which reserve shelf to use option through Circulation Options (see Setting Circulation Options for details).

    • The Reserve Shelf to Use menu lists all currently defined reserve locations for your library.
    • The default selection for the Reserve Shelf to Use is Not Assigned.
  6. Indicate whether or not you wish to receive email notification of reserves placed by selecting the desired option from the Notify via Email when Reserve Placed menu:

    Email notifications include the Patron Name and Patron Barcode of the patron for whom the reserve is placed; the Title, Author and Volume of the title against which the reserve is placed; any Notes included with the reserve; the Pickup Location; and the Item Call Number for the item against which the reserve is placed.

    • No – indicates you do not wish to receive email notification of reserves placed.
    • All Reserves – indicates you wish to receive email notification for all reserves placed.
    • Reserves with Available Copies – indicates you wish to receive email notification only for reserves placed for which copies are currently available.
  7. If necessary, enter the appropriate email subject line and address in the Notify Email Subject and Notify Email Address text boxes.

    The Notify Email Subject and Notify Email Address fields are mandatory if the Notify via Email when Reserve Placed option is set to All Reserves or Reserves with Available Copies.

  8. For systems using shared patron/shared item databases, use the Do Not Share checkbox to indicate whether the pickup location is available to all libraries, or only to the specified Home Location.
    • A checkmark image of selected checkbox indicates the pickup location is available only for the specified Home Location.
    • An empty checkbox image of unselected checkbox indicates the pickup location is available to all libraries.
    • Clicking a checkbox repeatedly will toggle it on and off.

    If you select the Do Not Share checkbox, BE SURE to specify the Home Location with which the pickup location will be affiliated.

  9. When all desired information has been entered, click the Submit button to save your changes.
    • The Edit Pickup Locations screen closes automatically, and the Define Library Reserve Pickup Locations screen refreshes to display the added Pickup Location.
