Adding OPAC Information

If you wish, you can enter OPAC information when adding or editing a subscription. The system uses the OPAC information to automatically create item records (displayed in the Search module) for each issue of the subscription. Once item records are created, they are attached to the associated title's bibliographic record, and any further changes to the records must be performed from within the Cataloging module.

NOTE: Any changes made using the Serial Check-In function to an issue which has already been checked in will not be reflected in the issue’s item record.

To add OPAC information:

NOTE: If you do not wish to automatically create item records for each issue of the subscription, DO NOT enter OPAC information.

  1. Select the location and collection to which you wish to assign issues/items checked in for this subscription from the OPAC Location menu.
    • The OPAC Location menu lists all locations/collections defined for your library.
  2. Enter the desired copy number for each issue/item in the Copy Number text box.
    • The Copy Number will be appended to the call number for each issue.
  3. Select the desired item material type from the Material Type menu.
    • The Material Type menu lists all item material types defined for your library.
  4. Enter the call number for items supplied under the subscription in the Call Number text box.
