Canceling a Hold

You can cancel one or more holds from the Items on Hold screen if you no longer wish to borrow the item.

NOTE: You cannot cancel the hold for titles currently on “Checkout Reserve.”

To cancel selected holds:

NOTE: For items placed on hold through Hoopla: Click the Cancel Hold button to cancel the hold. The message “Hold cancelled” shows briefly at the top of the screen.

  1. Select Your Items – Items on Hold from the Your Account menu (see Using Your Account for details).
    • The Items on Hold screen displays. The total number of currently active holds for your account is shown at the top of the screen.

  1. Click the Cancel Hold button for the item for which you wish to cancel the hold.
    • A confirmation dialog displays the message “You are about to cancel 1 hold request. Do you wish to continue?”
  2. Click the OK button to complete the cancellation. (Click the Cancel button to cancel the process and keep the hold active.)
    • The confirmation message “1 reserve(s) cancelled” shows briefly at the top of the screen.
    • The Items on Hold screen refreshes with the selected item removed from the list.
  3. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to cancel additional holds.
  4. To exit the Items On Hold screen, select another option from the Your Account menu, or, click the Home button Home button in the screen header to return to your library’s “Home” page.

To cancel all holds:

  1. Select Your Items – Items on Hold from the Your Account menu (see Using Your Account for details).
    • The Items on Hold screen displays. The total number of currently active holds for your account is shown at the top of the screen.
    • The Items on Hold screen shows a listing of all items for which you have requested a hold or that are currently reserved for checkout for your account.
  2. Click the Select/Clear All checkbox to select or unselect all items.
    • A checkmark checkmark indicates all items are selected.
    • An empty checkbox checkbox indicates all items are unselected.
    • Clicking the Select/Clear All checkbox repeatedly will toggle it on and off.
  3. Click the Cancel Hold button at the top of the screen.
    • A confirmation dialog displays the message “You are about to cancel (# of holds) hold request(s). Do you wish to continue?”
  4. Click the OK button to complete the cancellation. (Click the Cancel button to cancel the process and keep the holds active.)
    • The confirmation message “(# of holds) reserve(s) cancelled” shows at the top of the screen.
    • The Items on Hold screen refreshes with the selected items removed from the list.
  5. To exit the Items On Hold screen, select another option from the Your Account menu, or, click the Home button Home button in the screen header to return to your library’s “Home” page.
