Sending Bibliographic Information via SMS Text Messaging
NOTE: “Text It/Send SMS” functionality is optional, and may not be enabled for all systems. When enabled, “Text It/Send SMS” functionality is available to library guests, authenticated patrons, and staff members.
NOTE: Your mobile service provider may add charges for incoming text messages sent through the VERSO system.
You can use the “Text It/Send SMS” feature to send a text message containing brief bibliographic information (title, call number and library location) for any item in a search results set. When “Text It/Send SMS” functionality is enabled, a Text It/Send SMS icon is shown for each item in the Location information field of Brief Record displays and in the Where To Find section on Full Record Displays.
To send brief bibliographic information via SMS text messaging:
- Use Quick Search or Advanced Search to locate the desired title.

Locate the desired item in the Location information field (for Brief
Record displays) or the Where To Find section (for Full Record
Displays), and click the Text It/Send SMS
icon
for the item.
- The Send SMS panel displays.
- The panel shows the Branch from which the record was retrieved, and the Title and Call number for the item.
- Enter the mobile phone number to which you wish to send the text message
in the Enter Phone Number text box.
- Enter the phone number using the format “##########”.
- Select the mobile service provider for the mobile phone to which you wish to send the text message from the Select a Carrier menu.
- Click the Send button to send the message.
- The message “Sms Message Sent” shows briefly at the top of the screen.
