Chapter 4. MANAGING LOCAL COVER IMAGES
Adding Local Cover Images
You can add a local cover image for a selected bibliographic record.
To add a local cover image:

From
the Cat Admin menu (see
The Cat Admin Menu for details),
select Local Cover Images - Add Local Cover.
- The Add Local Cover Search screen displays.
- Select the database you wish to search from the Select Catalog
menu.
NOTE: The Select Catalog menu is shown only if your system has more than one A-G catalog.
- The Select Catalog menu lists all A G databases available for your system.
- Select the index you wish to search from the drop-down menu, and enter
your search term in the Enter search term(s) text box. You may search
for bibliographic records by A-G Control Number, Title,
Author, ISSN, ISBN or LCCN.
- When searching by Title or Author, you may enter a complete or partial search term.
- When searching by ISSN, ISBN, LCCN or A-G Control Number, you must enter a complete search term.
- If desired, click the Set Index as Default link to make the currently selected index the default index whenever the Add Local Cover function is accessed.
- Click the Submit button.
- If you searched by Title or Author, a Term List displays,
with the heading which most closely matches your search term as the first
entry in the list.
- Use the Previous and Next links to scroll the list backward and forward, one page at a time.
NOTE: To modify your search, if necessary, click the Modify Search button to return to the Add Local Cover Search screen.
- Click a link to display a list of titles for the selected term.
- Use the checkboxes to select the titles for which you wish to upload a local cover image. You can select multiple records, or upload a separate cover image for each record, if desired.
- A checkmark indicates the local cover image will be applied to the associated title.
- An empty checkbox indicates the local cover image will not be applied to the associated title.
- Clicking a checkbox repeatedly will toggle it on and off.
- Click the Select All link to select the checkboxes for all titles associated with the currently selected term.
- When the desired titles have been selected, click the Add Cover Image button.
- The Add Local Image upload screen displays. Proceed to step 8.
- If you searched by ISSN, ISBN, LCCN, or A-G
Control Number, the Add Local Image upload screen displays. Proceed to
step 8.
NOTE: If a match to your search term is not located, the message “No results were found.” displays. Click the Modify Search button to return to the Add Local Cover Search screen and modify your search.
- The Add Local Image upload screen shows a list of all currently selected titles.
- Each line in the list shows the Title, Author, Format and Auto-Graphics Control Number (AGCN) for the associated item.
- If a local cover image is associated with a title in the list, a “thumbnail” of the cover image is shown in the Image field for the item.
- The Select checkboxes are selected by default for all titles in the list.
- If necessary, use the Select checkboxes to deselect one or
more previously selected titles.
- A checkmark indicates the local cover image will be applied to the associated title.
- An empty checkbox indicates the local cover image will not be applied to the associated title.
- Clicking a checkbox repeatedly will toggle it on and off.
- Click the Browse button to locate the desired local cover image.
- A standard Find File dialog displays.
- Locate and select the desired cover image, then click the Open
button.
- The Find File dialog closes and the file name is shown in the Select a file to upload text box.
- Click the Upload Book Image button to upload the selected cover
image.
- When the upload is complete, the Upload Cover screen refreshes to show a “thumbnail” of the uploaded Image next to each selected title, and the message “Uploaded book (AGCN) image successfully!” displays at the bottom of the screen.
- If desired, click the Modify Search button to return to the Add Local Cover Search screen and upload local cover images for additional titles.
