Adding a Year of Publication Qualifier

Use the Year of Publication qualifier to narrow your search to materials published during a specific year, multiple selected years or a range of years.

To add a year of publication qualifier:

NOTE: When entering a Year of Publication qualifier, enter dates as four-digit years; (i.e., 1975).

  1. Click the Expand Qualifier icon Expand Qualifier Icon for the Year of Publication qualifier to expand the qualifier options.

  1. To limit search results to titles published during one or more predefined decades, select the checkbox for each decade by which you wish to limit your search.
    • A checkmark checkmark indicates that titles published during the associated decade will be included in search results.
    • An empty checkbox checkbox indicates that titles published during the associated decade will not be included in search results.
    • Clicking a checkbox repeatedly will toggle it on and off.
      • The Search (####) Records button refreshes to display the number of titles that will be returned by your qualified search.
  2. Use the Year of Publication text boxes to specify a custom year of publication qualifier.
    • To limit search results to a single year of publication:

      • Enter the desired year in either Year of Publication text box.

    • To limit search results to a range of years:

      • Enter the starting year in the first Year of Publication text box. Enter the ending year in the second Year of Publication text box.

    • To limit search results to items published before a specified year:

      • Enter an asterisk “*” in the first Year of Publication text box. Enter the ending year in the second Year of Publication text box.

    • To limit search results to items published after a specified year:

      • Enter the starting year in the first Year of Publication text box. Enter an asterisk “*” in the second Year of Publication text box.

    • Click the Update Search Records button Update Search Records Button to update the Search (####) Records button.
      • The Search (####) Records button refreshes to display the number of titles that will be returned by your qualified search.
  3. When the desired qualifier has been specified, click the Collapse Qualifier icon Collapse Qualifier Icon for the Year of Publication qualifier to collapse the qualifier options.
