How Authority Control Processing Works

Authority Control processing lets you validate headings in a bibliographic record against matching headings in an authority record. Each eligible heading in a bibliographic record is checked against the index of authority headings from records specified in the validation hierarchy for your User Account (see The Authority Validation Hierarchy for details). Validated headings in the bibliographic record are then updated to the preferred heading taken from the authority record, as appropriate.
