Authority Control - Overview

Authority Control within RESEARCHit, SHAREit or VERSO helps you ensure consistency of headings in bibliographic records by validating the headings against authority records. Authority records contain the authoritative, or preferred, headings as well as the “see” and “see also” references for:

Personal, corporate and meeting names
Uniform titles
Series titles
Subject Headings

Authority records also provide cross-references for related and incorrect forms of headings. This chapter provides an overview of authority control processing, describes the methods Authority Control uses to validate bibliographic headings, and includes instructions to perform authority control processing.
