Adding a Branch

You can add a new branch to any currently defined library in your VERSO system.

Once a Branch has been added to the VERSO system, it cannot be deleted. If a Branch is no longer in use, you must set the status for the branch to “inactive.”

Each branch you define must be associated with a specific library.

To add a branch:

  1. From the Locations Collections - Branches screen for the desired library, click the Add New Branch button.

  2. Enter the desired display sequence for the branch in the Sequence text box (see Setting the Branch Display Sequence for more information).
  3. Enter a name for the branch in the Label text box.

    The Label cannot exceed 128 characters (including spaces).

  4. Use the Hide from OPAC checkbox to indicate whether or not the associated branch will be hidden when viewing Location information in the Search module.
    • A checkmark image of selected checkbox indicates the branch is not shown when viewing Location information. An empty checkbox image of unselected checkbox indicates the branch is shown when viewing Location information. Clicking the checkbox repeatedly will toggle it on and off.
  5. Use the Suppress from OPAC display checkbox to indicate whether or not display of items associated with the branch are returned in search results lists in the VERSO Search module.
    • A checkmark image of selected checkbox indicates items associated with the branch are not returned in search results. An empty checkbox image of unselected checkbox indicates items associated with the branch are returned in search results. Clicking the checkbox repeatedly will toggle it on and off.
  6. Use the Active checkbox to set the desired status for the branch.
    • A checkmark image of selected checkbox indicates the branch is active (is available in Location menus throughout the system). An empty checkbox image of unselected checkbox indicates the branch is inactive (is not available in Location menus throughout the system). Clicking the checkbox repeatedly will toggle it on and off.
  7. Click the Submit button on the Add Branch screen to submit the new branch. (Click the Close button to close the Add Branch screen without adding the new branch.)
    • The Add Branch screen closes automatically, and the Locations Collections - Branches screen refreshes to display the new branch.

After you have added a new branch, you must define the associated collections for the branch (see Adding a Collection for details).
