Chapter 2. MATERIAL TYPES AND ITEM CATEGORIES
Adding an Item Category
You can add a new item category.
To add a new item Category:

From the Circ Admin menu, select Item Categories.
- The Item Category Management screen displays.
- The screen lists all currently defined item categories, and shows the Category Name, number of items associated with the category (Titles on List), the date on which the category was Last Updated, and whether or not the category is currently Active.
- If desired, you can reconfigure, sort and filter table content (see the System Basics User Guide for details).
- If desired, you can view a list of titles associated with the category (see Viewing Item Category Lists for details).
- Click the Add Category button.
- The Item Category Edit screen displays.
- Enter a name for the new category in the Title text box.

Use the Active checkbox to indicate whether or not the category is
currently active.
NOTE: A category must be active to be available for selection on the Add Item and Edit Item screens in the CAT Administration module.
- A checkmark indicates the category is active.
- An empty checkbox indicates the category is not active.
- Clicking a checkbox repeatedly will toggle it on and off.
- When all desired information has been entered, click the Submit button to
save the new category to the database.
- The Item Category Edit screen closes, and the Item Category Management screen refreshes with the new category added to the bottom of the list.
