CIRCULATION ADMINISTRATION
Chapter 7. SETTING CIRCULATION PARAMETERS
Library-Level Checkout Limits
“Library-level” checkout limits establish the default checkout limits for your library's VERSO system. If desired, these default limits can be overridden by setting "location-level" (branch and/or collection) checkout limits for a given library location.
In most cases, you should set default "individual" checkout limits for all material type/patron category combinations. If you leave a “library-level” material type/patron category checkout limit blank (or set the checkout limit at "0"), and do not specify an overriding "location-level" checkout limit corresponding to the blank “library-level” material type/patron category, the Over Checkout Limit warning will be invoked each time a patron checks out an item of the associated material type.
Additionally, in most cases, you should set “library-level” checkout limits for All Types Combined for each patron category. If you leave a “library-level” All Types Combined checkout limit blank (or set the checkout limit at "0"), and do not specify an overriding "location-level" checkout limit corresponding to the blank “library-level” checkout limit, the Over Checkout Limit warning will be invoked each time a patron of the associated category checks out any item of any material type, regardless of the "individual" checkout limit for the item.
