Patron Category Reassignment at Age Transition

The Set Age Transitions function provides the ability to change a patron’s Patron Category and/or Patron Group assignment based on the patron’s age. You may also choose to break “family member” linkages. You may specify one or more age transitions that will trigger Patron Category/Group reassignment, and may schedule age transition reassignment to occur “on demand” or automatically on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

To view age transition parameters:

1. From the Circ Admin menu, select Patrons - Set Age Transitions.
   • The Set Age Transitions screen displays.
2. The Existing Age Transaction field lists all currently defined age transitions. Each line in the list provides the following information:
   • Age – the age at which the associated Patron Category/ Group reassignment will take place
   • Patron Category – the “from” and “to” Patron Category reassignment parameters
   • Patron Group – the “from” and “to” Patron Group reassignment parameters
   • Remove Family – indicates whether or not “family member” linkages will be “broken” at the associated age transition; either Yes or No.
3. Use the Add New Transition fields to add a new age transition.

To add a new age transition:

1. Enter the age at which you wish Patron Category/Group reassignment to occur in the At Age text box.
2. Select the current Patron Category (the Category you wish to change from) from the With Patron Category menu. Select the Patron Category you wish to change to from the Set Patron Category to menu.
   • The With Patron Category and Set Patron Category to menus list all currently defined Patron Categories for your VERSO system.

   If you do not wish to change the Patron Category assignment at the specified At Age transition, select the same Patron Category from both the With Patron Category and Set Patron Category to menus.

3. If applicable, select the current Patron Group (the Group you wish to change from) from the With Patron Group menu. Select the Patron Group you wish to change to from the Set Patron Group to menu.
   • The With Patron Group and Set Patron Group to menus list all currently defined Patron Groups for your VERSO system.

   It is not mandatory to define a Patron Group change at the specified At Age transition. If you do not wish to change the Patron Group assignment, retain the “Select a Group” value for both the With Patron Group and Set Patron Group to menus.

4. Use the Remove Family checkbox to indicate whether or not “family member” linkages should be broken at the specified At Age transition.
   • A checkmark indicates that “family member” linkages will be broken at the specified age transition.
   • An empty checkbox indicates that “family member” linkages will not be broken at the specified age transition.
   • Clicking the checkbox repeatedly will toggle it on and off.
5. When all desired parameters have been entered, click the Add link to add the new age transition.
   • The screen refreshes with the new age transition added to the Existing Age Transaction list.

To delete an existing age transition:

• Click the Delete link for the age transition you wish to delete.
  • The screen refreshes with the selected age transition removed from the Existing Age Transaction list.
