Chapter 7. SETTING CIRCULATION PARAMETERS
Primary Patron Hold Management
The Primary Patron Hold Mgmt function lets you enable and configure Primary Patron Hold functionality for your library. When enabled, this feature limits holds for newly added items to your libraries catalog to only those patrons associated with a “primary patron” category (see Managing Patron Categories for details) for a specified period of time. Patrons not associated with a “primary patron” category are prevented from placing holds for such items.
To configure Primary Patron Hold functionality:

From the Circ Admin menu, select Primary Patron Hold Mgmt.

The Manage Primary Patron Message screen displays.

- Enter the number of days for which “primary patrons” will be granted hold
protection on newly added items to your library’s catalog in the Primary
Population Holds Protection (number of days) text box.
- If you do not wish to provide hold protection to “primary patrons,” enter “0” in the Primary Population Holds Protection (number of days) text box.
- Enter the message to be displayed to patrons other than “primary patrons” when holds are denied due to primary population hold protection in the Message to display to patrons whose holds are denied text box.
- When all necessary information has been entered, click the Submit button to save your changes.
