Applying a Patron Block
When applying a block to a patron’s account, you can specify the block type (“soft” or “hard”) and either select a pre-defined block message (see the Circ Administration User Guide for more information) or create a custom message.
To apply a block to a patron’s account:

On
the Patron Checkout, Status & Reserves screen for the desired patron, click
the Apply Patron Block button.
- The Add Patron Block dialog displays.
- Enter the desired block message in the text box provided.
- To use a pre-defined block message, select the desired message from the
drop-down menu.
- The message text is entered in the text box. If desired, you may enter additional text with the message.
- To use a custom message, select Custom Message from the drop-down menu, then enter the desired message text in the text box.
- To use a pre-defined block message, select the desired message from the
drop-down menu.
- Use the Block Type radio buttons to specify the desired block type;
Soft or Hard.
- If you selected a pre-defined block message, the Block Type radio button for the default block type of the message is selected automatically.
- Click the Submit button to close the Apply Patron Block dialog and apply the block to the patron’s account.
NOTE: The block message will show on the Patron Warning Screen for the patron the next time you access the Patron Checkout, Status & Reserves screen for the patron.
