Auto-Populating the User Record
“Auto-populate” functionality is available only if your library has purchased the optional driver’s license scan support.
You can “auto-populate” the Add New User screen or Edit User Account screen by scanning the barcode on the back of the patron’s driver’s license.
You must have a supported and properly configured 2D barcode scanner connected to your workstation to use the driver’s license scan feature.
To “auto-populate” a User Record:
- Access the Add New User form (see Adding a Patron for details) or the Edit User Account screen for an existing patron (see Editing Patrons for details), as desired.
- Click the Scan button and scan the barcode on the back of the patron’s driver’s license.
- The system automatically populates the following fields, as available:
The specific fields populated depend on the state of origin for the driver’s license. Not all fields are supported by all states.

- Edit the “auto-populated” fields as necessary.
- Enter or edit the remaining fields in the user record as desired.
- Click the Submit button to save your changes.
