Chapter 4. TRANSFERS AND EXCEPTIONS

 

 


Global Item Transfer

Some library consortia utilize "circuit collections" (rotating collections that remain at any given library for a limited amount of time and then are transferred in whole to another library). The Global Item Transfer function facilitates the transfer of circuit collections between libraries.

To perform a global item transfer:

  1. From the Circulation menu (see The Circulation Menu for details), select Transfer – Global Item Transfer.
    • The Global Item Transfer screen displays.

  1. Specify the source of the collection to be transferred:
    • Select the library from which the collection will be transferred from the Select Origin Library menu.

      NOTE: The Select Origin Library menu lists all libraries that have been defined for your system. Locations are defined by your Library Administrator.

    • Select the branch from which the collection will be transferred from the Select Origin Branch menu.

      NOTE: The Select Origin Branch menu lists all branches defined for the currently selected "origin" library. Locations are defined by your Library Administrator.

    • Select the collection to be transferred from the Select Origin Collection menu.

      NOTE: The Select Origin Collection menu lists all collections defined for the currently selected "origin" branch. Locations are defined by your Library Administrator.

    • Select the material type for the collection to be transferred from the Select Origin Material Type menu.

      NOTE: The Select Origin Material Type menu lists all material types defined for the currently selected "origin" library. Material types are defined by your Library Administrator.

  2. Specify the destination of the collection to be transferred:
    • Select the library to which the collection will be transferred from the Select Destination Library menu.

      NOTE: The Select Destination Library menu lists all libraries that have been defined for your system. Locations are defined by your Library Administrator.

    • Select the branch to which the collection will be transferred from the Select Destination Branch menu.

      NOTE: The Select Destination Branch menu lists all branches defined for the currently selected "destination" library. Locations are defined by your Library Administrator.

    • Select the collection to which the items will be transferred from the Select Destination Collection menu.

      NOTE: The Select Destination Collection menu lists all collections defined for the currently selected "destination" branch. Locations are defined by your Library Administrator.

    • Select the material type for the collection to which the items will be transferred from the Select Destination Material Type menu.

      NOTE: The Select Destination Material Type menu lists all material types defined for the currently selected "destination" library. Material types are defined by your Library Administrator.

  3. Click the Get Origin Collection Statistics button to gather statistics for the collection to be transferred.
    • The screen refreshes to display the number of items, by exception, in the collection selected for transfer.
  4. Use the checkboxes associated with the collection statistics to indicate which items should be transferred.
    • A checkmark checkmark indicates the associated items will be transferred.
    • An empty checkbox unselected checkbox indicates the associated items will not be transferred.
    • Clicking a checkbox repeatedly will toggle it on and off.
  5. Click the Transfer button to transfer the collection from the specified "origin" to the specified "destination." (Click the Cancel button to cancel the transfer).
    • The Global Item Transfer screen refreshes and displays the message "(#) Items have transferred to (destination)."
