Chapter 4. TRANSFERS AND EXCEPTIONS
Entering Item Exceptions
To enter an item exception:

From the Circulation menu (see
The Circulation Menu for
details), select Exceptions - Item Exceptions.
- The Item Exceptions Entry Form displays.
- Enter the title or barcode of the item for which you wish to enter an
exception in the Enter Title or Barcode text box.
- When entering a barcode, enter the complete barcode.
- When entering a title, you may enter a complete or partial title.
NOTE: When entering a partial title, do not skip words. For example, when searching for "Gone with the Wind", you may enter "gone with" as your search term; you may not enter "gone wind".

Click the Submit button.
- If you entered a title, a title browse list displays, with the title that most closely matches your search term shown as the first entry in the list.
- Use the Previous and Next links to scroll the list forwards and backwards from this point to locate the desired title.
- Click the desired title. The title list expands to show a list of items for the selected title.
- Click the Select this Item link for the desired item to display the Change Item Status screen for the selected item.
- If you entered a barcode, the Item Exceptions screen for the associated item displays.
- The Item Exception Screen lists the Title, Author, Location, Call Number/Volume, Material Type and Item Barcode for the item, and shows the Current Item Status of the item and the date on which the Current Status was applied to the item (Placed On).
- Select the new status for the item from the Change to Item Status
menu; either Available, At Bindery, Claimed Returned,
Deleted, Discarded, In-Process, Lost, Missing,
Non Circulating, On Order, or Patron Lost.
NOTE: The Change to Item Status menu may include additional exceptions defined by your Library Administrator.
- Click the Submit button to submit the status change request.
- The screen refreshes to display the Item Exception Confirmation screen.
- The screen shows the Current Item Status (the new exception applied to the item), the date on which the status was changed (Placed On), and the Title, Author, Location, Call Number/Volume and Item Barcode for the item.
- To enter additional item exceptions, enter the title or barcode of the desired item in the Select Next Item text box, then repeat steps 3 through 5.
To enter multiple item exceptions:
- From the Circulation menu (see
The Circulation Menu for
details), select Exceptions - Multiple Item Exceptions.
- The Multiple Item Exceptions screen displays.
- Select the new status for the item from the Change to Item Status menu;
either Available, At Bindery, Claimed Returned, Deleted,
Discarded, In-Process,
Lost, Missing, Non Circulating, On Order, or Patron Lost.
NOTE: The Change to Item Status menu may include additional exceptions defined by your Library Administrator.
- Enter the complete barcode of the item for which you wish to enter an exception in the Enter Item Barcode text box.

Click the Submit button to submit the status change request.
- The screen refreshes to display the Multiple Item Exception Confirmation screen.
- The screen shows the Current Item Status (the new exception applied to the item), the date on which the status was changed (Placed On), and the Title, Author, Location, Call Number, Material Type and Item Barcode for the item.
- To enter additional item exceptions, repeat steps 2 through 4.
