Chapter 2. CHECK OUT AND CHECK IN
Reserve Item Checkin
When an item for which active reserves do exist is checked in by the “owner” of the item, the Item Checkin screen shows the message “THIS TITLE HAS OUTSTANDING RESERVE REQUESTS,” and includes the Outstanding Reserve Requests at this Location for this Title and Outstanding Reserve Requests at other locations for this Title fields, listing all active reserves for the title.
- If a Reserve for Checkout is placed for a patron listed in the Outstanding Reserve Requests at this Location for this Title field, reserve processing is accomplished in the normal manner.
- If a Reserve for Checkout is placed for a patron listed in the
Outstanding Reserve Requests at other locations for this Title field:
- The system applies a status of Reserve in Transit to the item.
- If your library has enabled automatic In Transit receipt printing, a
Reserve Item In Transit Receipt displays in an additional browser
window, and a standard Print dialog displays to facilitate printing of the
In Transit Receipt for use when shipping the item.
NOTE: Automatic In Transit receipt printing is configured through the Circulation Options function in the Circulation Administration module (see the Circulation Administration User Guide for more information).
- Print the receipt and forward the item to the library specified.
When an item with a status of Reserve in Transit is checked in, the system compares the branch associated with the pickup location specified for the reserve with the Home Location of the staff member performing the checkin operation.
- If the pickup location for the item and the Home Location of the staff
member do not match:
- An advisory dialog displays the message “This item is a reserve in transit and does not belong to your library. Please send the item to the library specified on the reserve in transit receipt that accompanied this item.”
- Click the OK button to close the advisory dialog, and forward the item to the library specified.
- • If the pickup location for the item and the Home Location of the staff
member do match:
- The Item Checkin screen displays the message “In Transit Checkin Item.”
- The Reserve Title for Checkout screen displays in additional browser window. Reserve processing is accomplished in the normal manner.
