Chapter 4. TRANSFERS AND EXCEPTIONS
Transferring Items
To transfer a single item:
- From the Circulation menu (see
The Circulation Menu for
details), select Transfer – Item Transfer.
- The Item Transfer Entry Form displays.
- Enter the title or barcode of the item you wish to transfer in the Enter
Title or Barcode text box.
- When entering a barcode, enter the complete barcode.
- When entering a title, you may enter a complete or partial title.
NOTE: When entering a partial title, do not skip words. For example, when searching for "Gone with the Wind", you may enter "gone with" as your search term; you may not enter "gone wind".
- Click the Submit button.
- If you entered a title, a title browse list displays, with the title that most closely matches your search term shown as the first entry in the list.
- Use the Previous and Next links to scroll the list forwards and backwards from this point to locate the desired title.
- Click the title you wish to transfer. The title list expands to show a list of items for the selected title.
- Click the Select this Item link for the desired item to display the Transfer Item to a New Location screen for the selected item.
- If you entered a barcode, the Transfer Item to a New Location screen for the associated item displays.
NOTE: If you enter an invalid barcode, the message “No results were found.” displays. Click the Modify Search button to return to the Item Transfer Entry Form. Re-enter the barcode and resubmit your transfer request.
- The Transfer Item to a New Location screen lists the Title, Author, Call Number/Volume, and Item Barcode for the item, and shows the Current Location of item and Permanent Location of item.
- From the Type of Transfer menu, select the type of transfer you wish to perform, either Permanent or Temporary.
- Select the new location for the item from the New Location of Item menu.
- The New Location of Item menu lists all locations and collections currently defined for your library.
- To return a temporarily relocated item to its permanent location, select the location shown in the Permanent Location field from the New Location of Item menu.
- Click the Submit button to submit the transfer request.
- The screen refreshes to display the Item Transfer Confirmation screen.
- The Item Transfer Confirmation screen shows the Title, Author, Call Number/Volume and Item Barcode for the item, and shows the New Location of item and Permanent Location of item.
- To transfer another item, enter the title or barcode of the item you wish to transfer in the Select Next Item text box, then repeat steps 3 through 6.
To transfer multiple items:
- From the Circulation menu (see
The Circulation Menu for
details), select Transfer – Multiple Item Transfer.
- The Multiple Item Transfer screen displays.
- From the Type of Transfer menu, select the type of transfer you wish to perform, either Permanent or Temporary.
- Select the new location for the item from the New Location of Item menu.
- The New Location of Item menu lists all locations and collections currently defined for your library.
- Enter the complete barcode of the item you wish to transfer in the Enter Item Barcode text box.
- Click the Submit button to submit the transfer request.
- The screen refreshes to display the Multiple Item Transfer Confirmation screen.
- The Last Barcode Modified field shows the Item Barcode, Title, Author, Old Location, New Location and Call Number/Volume for the item.
- Repeat steps 2 through 5 to transfer additional items.
To return temporarily transferred items:

From the Circulation menu (see
The Circulation Menu for
details), select Transfer – Temporary Transfer Return.
- The Temporary Transfer Return screen displays.
- Enter the complete barcode of the item you wish to return to its permanent location in the Enter Item Barcode text box.
- Click the Submit button.
- The screen refreshes to display the Item Transfer Confirmation screen.
- The Last Item Returned field shows the Item Barcode, last Action completed, Title, Author, Permanent Location and Call Number/Volume for the item.
NOTE: If you enter an invalid barcode, the message “No item found for barcode (barcode)” displays in the Last Item Returned - Title field when you submit the transfer return request. Re-enter the barcode and resubmit your transfer return request.
NOTE: If you enter a barcode for an item that is not in a temporary transfer state, the message “Item Not In Temporary Transfer State” displays in the Last Item Returned - Title field when you submit the transfer return request. Re-enter the barcode and resubmit your transfer return request.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 to return additional items.
