Chapter 4. TRANSFERS AND EXCEPTIONS

 

 


Transferring Items

To transfer a single item:

  1. From the Circulation menu (see The Circulation Menu for details), select Transfer – Item Transfer.
    • The Item Transfer Entry Form displays.

  1. Enter the title or barcode of the item you wish to transfer in the Enter Title or Barcode text box.
    • When entering a barcode, enter the complete barcode.
    • When entering a title, you may enter a complete or partial title.

      NOTE: When entering a partial title, do not skip words. For example, when searching for "Gone with the Wind", you may enter "gone with" as your search term; you may not enter "gone wind".

  2. Click the Submit button.
    • If you entered a title, a title browse list displays, with the title that most closely matches your search term shown as the first entry in the list.

  • Use the Previous and Next links to scroll the list forwards and backwards from this point to locate the desired title.
  • Click the title you wish to transfer. The title list expands to show a list of items for the selected title.
  • Click the Select this Item link for the desired item to display the Transfer Item to a New Location screen for the selected item.

NOTE: If you enter an invalid barcode, the message “No results were found.” displays. Click the Modify Search button to return to the Item Transfer Entry Form. Re-enter the barcode and resubmit your transfer request.

  1. From the Type of Transfer menu, select the type of transfer you wish to perform, either Permanent or Temporary.
  2. Select the new location for the item from the New Location of Item menu.
    • The New Location of Item menu lists all locations and collections currently defined for your library.
    • To return a temporarily relocated item to its permanent location, select the location shown in the Permanent Location field from the New Location of Item menu.
  3. Click the Submit button to submit the transfer request.
    • The screen refreshes to display the Item Transfer Confirmation screen.

  1. To transfer another item, enter the title or barcode of the item you wish to transfer in the Select Next Item text box, then repeat steps 3 through 6.

To transfer multiple items:

  1. From the Circulation menu (see The Circulation Menu for details), select Transfer – Multiple Item Transfer.
    • The Multiple Item Transfer screen displays.

  1. From the Type of Transfer menu, select the type of transfer you wish to perform, either Permanent or Temporary.
  2. Select the new location for the item from the New Location of Item menu.
    • The New Location of Item menu lists all locations and collections currently defined for your library.
  3. Enter the complete barcode of the item you wish to transfer in the Enter Item Barcode text box.
  4. Click the Submit button to submit the transfer request.
    • The screen refreshes to display the Multiple Item Transfer Confirmation screen.

  1. Repeat steps 2 through 5 to transfer additional items.

To return temporarily transferred items:

  1. From the Circulation menu (see The Circulation Menu for details), select Transfer – Temporary Transfer Return.
    • The Temporary Transfer Return screen displays.

  1. Enter the complete barcode of the item you wish to return to its permanent location in the Enter Item Barcode text box.
  2. Click the Submit button.
    • The screen refreshes to display the Item Transfer Confirmation screen.

  1. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to return additional items.
