Chapter 4. TRANSFERS AND EXCEPTIONS

Transfers and Exceptions - Overview

The Transfer functions let you transfer items from one library location to another location. Transfers can be specified as permanent or temporary. You can choose to transfer single items, one at a time, or sequentially transfer multiple items. You may also return temporarily transferred items to their permanent locations.

NOTE: Additionally, the Temporary Transfer Listing/Return report (available in the Reports module) provides a means of simultaneously returning temporarily transferred items from a selected location to their original locations. (Refer to the Circulation Reports User Guide for details).

Branch Transfer functions let you transfer an item from one library location to another location. Transfers can be specified as permanent or temporary. You can choose to transfer single items, one at a time, or sequentially transfer multiple items. You may also return temporarily transferred items to their permanent locations.

The Exceptions function lets you change the status of an item from circulating (AVAILABLE) to non-circulating (AT BINDERY, DISCARDED, PATRON LOST, etc.). Items may also be returned from non-circulating status to AVAILABLE.
