Hoopla Full Record Display

NOTE: Hoopla is a digital media service offered by some libraries and may not be implemented for all systems. Hoopla lets you borrow digital media (movies, music, ebooks, etc.) for viewing on a computer, tablet, or phone. Titles can be streamed immediately, or downloaded for offline viewing. The Hoopla Full Record Display is shown when viewing the record for an item available through the Hoopla service.

NOTE: You MUST have an active Hoopla account to check out a Hoopla item.

Each Full Record Display includes a book jacket illustration and bibliographic information for the associated title.

The Full Record Display is a configured as a “two-pane” display.

• The left pane shows the author, title, format and location (Found In Hoopla) for the title; a "Media Type" icon (see Media Type Icons for details) that indicates the media in which the title is available, a jacket or cover illustration, and Availability of the title (whether or not the checkout limit for your account or your library has been reached). A Checkout button and Full Record functions menu are also provided

NOTE: If you have accessed the system as a guest, the Availability field shows the message “Login Required.”

NOTE: If you have accessed the system as an authenticated patron but DO NOT have a Hoopla account, the Availability field shows the message “No Account.”

• The right pane shows bibliographic information for the title, and includes related Notes. The Notes field may include a summary or synopsis for the title (for audio books, DVDs, etc.) or a track listing (for music CDs, etc.).

To view the Full Record Display:

• Use your browser's scroll bar to scroll the page.
• Use the Full Record functions menu to perform the following functions:
  • Click the Checkout button to “check out” a copy of the title to your computer, tablet, or phone. The Hoopla “checked out response” page opens in an additional browser tab or window.

    NOTE: If you have accessed the system as a guest, the Checkout button is replaced with a Login button. You MUST log in to the system (see Logging In for details) to check out a Hoopla item. Click the Login button to display the login screen.

    NOTE: If you have accessed the system as an authenticated patron but DO NOT have a Hoopla account, the Checkout button is replaced with a Create Hoopla Account button. You MUST have an active Hoopla account to check out a Hoopla item. Click the Create Hoopla Account button to access the Hoopla site and create an account (the Hoopla site opens in an additional browser tab).

    NOTE: If the checkout limit for your account or your library has been reached, the Checkout button is inactive, and the title cannot be checked out.

  • When viewing the Full Record for a title currently checked out to your user account, click the Get (format) button to open the Hoopla “checked out response” page. The Hoopla “checked out response” page opens in an additional browser tab or window.
  • When viewing the Full Record for a title currently checked out to your user account, click the Early Return button to return the title prior to the due date. The message “Your request to return this item was successfully completed.” Shows briefly at the top of the screen.
  • When viewing the Full Record for a title for which you have an active hold, click the Cancel Hold button to cancel the hold. The message “Hold cancelled” shows briefly at the top of the screen.
  • Click the Add to Your List link to save the record to a list (see Working with Lists for details).

    NOTE: The Add to Your List link is available only if your library has enabled this functionality. You MUST be logged into the system as an authenticated patron to add a Hoopla record to a list. Guests CANNOT add Hoopla records to a list.

  • Click the Email this Item link to send an email of a Full Record Display to yourself or to another party (see Emailing a Full Record for details).
  • Click the Print This Item link to print a copy of the Full Record Display (see Printing a Full Record for details).

    NOTE: The Print This Item link is available only if your library has enabled this functionality.

• Use the Browse Results buttons at the bottom of the screen to view Full Record Displays for other titles in the Search Results:
  • Click the Previous Record button to view the Full Record Display for the previous title in the Search Results.
  • Click the Next Record button to view the Full Record Display for the next title in the Search Results.
• Click the Go back icon in the upper left corner of the Full Record Display to return to the most recently selected record on the previous Search Results screen.
