Chapter 4. VIEWING SEARCH RESULTS
Adding Results from Third-party Databases
When you include a third-party database (Z39.50 database, subscription database, etc.) in a search, the system retrieves and displays a fixed number of titles (usually 40, or as limited by the third-party) that matched the search criteria. Additional titles, when present, can be added (up to 101 at a time) by selecting links from the Search Results screen.
To add results to a “filtered” list:
- When you filter a search results list (see Filtering Search Results for details) to limit the list to results returned by one or more third-party databases, the “token” in the “filters” string for each selected database serves as a link to add additional results to the list.
- Click the “token” for the desired third-party database.
- The system retrieves additional results (up to 101) from the selected database, and the screen refreshes with the additional results added to the list.
- Click the “token” again, as desired, until all results for the database have been retrieved.
NOTE: If you remove the filter for a third-party database from which you retrieved additional search results, the additional search results are retained in the Search Results list.
To add results using the “See More From” field:
NOTE: The See More From field is optional and may not be enable for all systems.
- The See More From field shown at the bottom of each page of Search Results screens lists up to eight third-party databases for which more results may be available.
- If results were retrieved from additional third-party databases included in your search, click the See More… link to see a full list of third-party databases for which more results may be available.
- Click the name of the desired third-party database.
- The system retrieves additional results (up to 101) from the selected database, the search results are “filtered” to display only results from the selected resource, and a “token” for the selected resource is added to the “filters” string.
- Click the “token,” as desired, to retrieve additional results from the database.
- Repeat as desired to view results for other third-party databases.
