Using Self-Registration

If you are not a registered patron (you do not have a user account with your library), you can use the “self-registration” feature to register a temporary account. Your librarian will convert your account to a permanent account at your first checkout.

NOTE: Your library may make access to the “self-registration” feature available by a direct link on the library’s “Home” page or other page outside the VERSO system.

NOTE: Patron Self-Registration is an optional feature and may not be enabled for all systems.

To self-register a user account:

NOTE: Mandatory fields on the Patron Self Registration form are indicated by an asterisk “*” following the field name.

  1. On the Login screen (see Logging In for details), click the “self-registration” link.
    • The Patron Self-Registration screen displays.

  1. Select the library with which you wish to register your account from the Home Library menu.
    • The Home Library menu lists all libraries available through your system.
  2. Enter your name in the First Name and Last Name text boxes.
  3. Enter your email address in the Email text box.
  4. Enter your telephone number in the Phone Number text box.
    • Enter your Phone Number as a continuous string of ten digits. The system will properly format your Phone Number automatically.
  5. Enter your street address in the Address, Address 2 and Postal Code text boxes.
  6. Click the Expand Menu icon to expand the City menu.
    • If there is only one city associated with the Postal Code you entered, the correct city is selected automatically.
    • If there are multiple cities associated with the Postal Code you entered, the default city for the Postal Code is selected automatically, and a list of alternate cities is shown below the default selection. Select the correct city for your street address.
    • Once the correct City has been selected, the correct State and Country are entered automatically.
  7. Enter your Date of Birth.
    • Enter your Date of Birth using the format “MM/DD/YYYY.”
    • Alternately, click the Date Entry Calendar icon to select your Date of Birth using the Date Entry Calendar (see Using the Date Entry Calendar for details).
  1. Enter a password for your account in the Password and Password Confirm text boxes.
    • Your password may be a minimum of 8 characters and a maximum of 20 characters in length, with no spaces. Your password may have any combination of alphabetic (upper- or lower-case) and numeric characters, and any special characters (such as & * $ # @ , etc.). Your password is not case-sensitive.
  2. Click the Submit button to submit the form.
    • A confirmation dialog displays the message “Registration information saved. Registration is complete. Please check your email for login and password.” to indicate your registration has been completed.

      NOTE: If self-registration is not currently available, an advisory dialog displays the message “Self-Registration is not available. Please call or visit the library for assistance.” Click the OK button to close the dialog. You cannot self-register an account at this time. Contact your library for assistance.

      NOTE: If a system error occurs, an advisory dialog displays the message “An unexpected error has occurred. Please call or visit the library for assistance.” Click the OK button to close the dialog. You cannot self-register an account at this time. Contact your library for assistance.

      NOTE: If you entered an Email address that is associated with another user account, an advisory dialog displays the message “This e-mail address is already associated with another library user. Please enter a different e-mail address or visit the library for assistance.” Click the OK button to close the dialog. To resubmit the form, enter a new Email address and click the Submit button. If you do not have another email address, you cannot self-register an account at this time. Contact your library for assistance.

  3. Click the OK button on the confirmation dialog to close the dialog.
    • You will receive a temporary username, confirmation of your password and the expiration date for your temporary account via email.

      NOTE: BE SURE to have your temporary account converted to a permanent account before the expiration date.
