AGCAT CLIENT
Chapter 3. USING AGCat
Navigating and Typing
Use the following methods to position the cursor and enter text in an active record:
- When you type, AGCat defaults to Insert mode, allowing you to add text between existing words. In some cases, you may wish to type in Overstrike mode. To switch to Overstrike mode, press the <Insert> key on the keyboard. (Press the <Insert> key again to return to Insert mode.)
- Use the Toolbar buttons and Shortcut menus to perform frequently used commands, such as inserting fields and subfields.
- Use the <Tab> key to move between fields, indicators and subfields.
- When inserting a new field, use the <Tab> key to automatically insert default indicators and a default first subfield.
- Use the directional (arrow) keys to position the cursor within the currently active record.
- Use the <Home> key to position the cursor at the beginning of a field.
- Use the <End> key to position the cursor at the end of a field.
- Use the <Ctrl+Home> keys to position the cursor at the beginning of the record.
- Use the <Ctrl+End> keys to position the cursor at the end of the record.
- Use the <Backspace> or <Delete> keys to delete individual characters or
symbols.
NOTE: Use the Quick Save function frequently while editing a record to avoid data loss (see Saving Records for details).
