CIRCULATION ADMINISTRATION

Chapter 7. SETTING CIRCULATION PARAMETERS

Using the Library Calendar Setup Screen

Use the Library Calendar Setup screen to enter holidays and vacation days one day at a time. You can set up a separate calendar for each library and branch in your VERSO system. In cases where a “branch level” calendar has not been defined, the system automatically checks the “library level” calendar for “closed” dates.

NOTE: The calendar screen is most useful for entering single "closed" days (legal holidays, for example). If your library is regularly closed on a given day of the week, or is closed for extended periods (school vacation, for example), you may wish to use the Library Schedule feature to enter these days (see Setting a Library Schedule for details).

To add "closed" days:

  1. Select the location for which you wish to enter holidays and/or vacation days from the Select Location menu.

NOTE: The Select Location menu lists all libraries and branches defined for your VERSO system.

  2. Use the Apply Calendar to all branches checkbox to indicate whether or not changes made to the calendar setup will be applied to all branches in the system.
    • A checkmark checkmark indicates changes to the calendar will be applied to all branches in the system.
    • An empty checkbox checkbox indicates changes to the calendar will be applied to the library chosen from the Select Location menu only.
    • Clicking the checkbox repeatedly will toggle it on and off.
  3. If necessary, select the desired calendar year from the Select Starting Year menu.
    • The Calendar screen refreshes to show the selected calendar year. Currently designated "closed" days are indicated by gray shading.
  4. Click an unshaded (open) date to mark the day as a "closed" day.
    • The selected date is highlighted by gray shading.
  5. Repeat step 2 to add additional "closed" days.
  6. When all desired “closed” days have been added to the calendar, click the Submit button to save your changes.

NOTE: Changes made to the library calendar at the library level are “inherited” by all branches associated with the library, regardless of the Apply Calendar to all branches checkbox setting.

To remove a "closed" day:

  1. Select the location from which you wish to remove holidays and/or vacation days from the Select Location menu.

  4. Click a shaded (closed) date to mark the day as an "open" day.
    • The gray shading is removed from the selected date.
  5. Repeat step 2 to remove additional "closed" days.
  6. When all desired “closed” days have been removed from the calendar, click the Submit button to save your changes.

NOTE: Changes made to the library calendar at the library level are “inherited” by all branches associated with the library, regardless of the Apply Calendar to all branches checkbox setting.
