Chapter 6. WORKING WITH RESERVES

Converting a “Soft” Reserve to a “Hard” Reserve

When an item for which one or more active “soft” reserves are present is checked in and your library has not enabled the Automatically assign reserve to next patron in line option through Circulation Options (see the Circulation Administration User Guide for more information), you can convert any currently active soft reserve for the item to a "hard" reserve from the Check In Screen, and transfer the item to a Reserve Location.

NOTE: “Soft” reserves are generally processed in the order in which they were received.

To convert a “soft” reserve to a “hard” reserve:

  1. When an item currently on loan for which “soft” reserves have been placed is checked in, the Item Check In screen shows the Outstanding Reserve Requests for this Title field.
