Chapter 6. WORKING WITH RESERVES
Processing Mediated Reserves
If your library has configured the patron “mediated” reserves option (see the Circulation Administration User Guide for details), the View Mediated feature lets you approve or deny reserve requests submitted by library patrons.
To process mediated reserve requests:
- From the Circulation menu (see
The Circulation Menu for
details), select Reserves - View Mediated.
- The Reserves Requested by Patrons screen displays.
NOTE: If mediated patron reserves have not been enabled for your library (see the Circulation Administration User Guide for details), the message “Please set the Patron Self-Reserve Mode Library Option to Mediated to use this function.” displays when the Reserves - View Mediated option is selected.
- The Reserves Requested by Patrons screen shows a listing, in chronological order, of all titles for which mediated reserves have been requested by library patrons. Each line in the listing includes the name of the Patron that submitted the reserve request, the patron’s Phone number, the Date and time at which the request was submitted, the Title and Author of the title, the Item Barcode (for item-level reserves), the patron’s Home Location, the requested Pickup Location, and the Reserve Type (Title or Item).
- To accept a mediated reserve request:
- Use the Accept checkboxes to select the mediated reserve requests you wish
to approve (accept).
- A checkmark indicates the associated request is selected.
- An empty checkbox indicates the associated request is not selected.
- Clicking a checkbox repeatedly will toggle it on and off.
- When all desired requests have been selected, click the Submit button to
approve (accept) the selected requests.
- The Reserves Requested by Patrons screen refreshes with the accepted requests removed from the list.
- Use the Accept checkboxes to select the mediated reserve requests you wish
to approve (accept).
- To deny a mediated reserve request:
- Click the Deny link for the desired reserve request.
- A confirmation dialog displays the message “Are you sure you want to Deny this Request?”
- Click the OK button on the confirmation dialog to deny the reserve request.
(Click the Cancel button to leave the status of the reserve request unchanged.)
- The Deny Reserve Request dialog displays.
- If desired, enter the reason the reserve request was denied in the Comments text box.
- Click the Submit button.
- The Deny Reserve Request dialog closes, and notification that the reserve request was denied is sent to the patron via email.
- Click the Deny link for the desired reserve request.
