Chapter 2. CHECK OUT AND CHECK IN
Viewing the Patron Summary
Click the Patron Summary tab at the top of the Patron Checkout, Status & Reserves screen to display the Patron Summary page. The Patron Summary page provides the following information:
- Login Name or Barcode – the patron’s barcode
- Patron Category – the Patron Category to which the patron is assigned
- Patron – the patron’s full name
- Address – the mailing address for the patron
- Home Location – the home location to which the patron is assigned
- (Locally Defined Field 1) – locally defined content
- E-Mail – the patron’s email address
- If desired, click the Email Patron to send an email to the patron (see Emailing the Patron from the Patron Summary Page for more information)
- Home Phone – the patron’s primary phone number
- Mobile Phone – the patron’s cell phone number
- Comment – text entered in the Comment field in the patron’s User Record
- Notification Preference Holds – the patron’s preferred means of contact for issues related to items on reserve (taken from the Reserve Notification Preferences setting in the patron’s User Record)
- Notification Preference Overdues– the patron’s preferred means of contact
for issues related to overdue items (taken from the Notification Preferences
setting in the patron’s User Record)
NOTE: The screen may optionally include the values for up to two library defined fields taken from the patron’s User Record. Display of library defined fields is configured through Circulation Options in the Circulation Administration module (see the Circulation Administration User Guide for more information).
- (Locally Defined Field 2) – locally defined content
- Charges – the total number of items currently checked out to the patron (excluding any items declared as “lost”)
- Overdues – the total number of items currently checked out to the patron for which the due date has expired (excluding any items declared as “lost”)
- Oldest Overdue – the number of days by which the oldest item is overdue
- Accrued Fines – the total amount of accrued fines on overdue items
- Lost Items – the total number of items declared “lost” that are associated with the patron
- Reserves – the total number of items for which a “soft” reserve has been placed
- Ready for Checkout – the total number of items for which a “hard” reserve has been placed
- Total Fines/Fees – the current fines/fees balance for the patron; if the patron has available funds on deposit with the library, this value is shown in parentheses.
- Previous barcodes – any prior obsolete barcodes associated with the user account
