Working with Proxies

The “Patron Proxies” function allows “proxies” to be defined to act on behalf of a given patron in the performance of certain circulation-related activities. “Patron Proxies” functionality is enabled through the Circulation Administration module.

When “Patron Proxies” functionality is enabled:

• The Edit User Account screen includes a Manage Proxies link that lets you add proxies to and delete proxies from a patron’s User Record (see Managing Proxies for details).

• The Checkout page of the Patron Status, Checkout & Reserves screen includes a Patron is a proxy for field that lists the names and barcodes of all patrons for whom the current patron may serve as a proxy, and an Approved proxies field that lists names and barcodes of all patrons that may serve as a proxy for the current patron. Entries in the Patron is a proxy for field serve as links to the Patron Status, Checkout & Reserves screen for the associated patron.

To allow a proxy to perform circulation activities for another patron:

• Access the Patron Status, Checkout & Reserves screen for the patron who will serve as a proxy.
• Click the link for the desired patron in the Patron is a proxy for field.
  • The Patron Status, Checkout & Reserves screen for the selected patron displays.
  • Perform circulation activities in the normal manner.
