Chapter 2. CHECK OUT AND CHECK IN
Renewing a Checkout
You can renew the checkout for any currently checked out item.
To renew a checkout:
- Access the Items Out page of the Patron Checkout, Status & Reserves screen for the desired patron (see Viewing Items Out for details).

Click the Renew button for any currently checked out item.
- The Renew Items screen displays. The screen shows a listing of all items currently checked out to the user.
- The Renew checkbox for the selected item is “checked” by default.
- Each line in the list shows the Title and Author of the checked out item, any Fines assessed against the item, the Due Date, and the current Status of the checkout (whether or not the item is Overdue, the number of times the item has been Renewed, and (in cases where active reserves exist against the title exist) the # Reserved and the # Available for fulfilling reserves) and any Fee associated with the checkout.
- Use the Renew checkboxes to select the items for which you wish to renew
the checkout.
- A checkmark indicates the checkout will be renewed.
- An empty checkbox indicates the checkout will not be renewed.
- Clicking a checkbox repeatedly will toggle it on and off.
- Click the Check All button to select all Renew checkboxes. (Click the Uncheck All button to clear all Renew checkboxes.
- If you wish to renew the selected items for a period other than the
default renewal period for your library, enter the new due date (and due time,
if appropriate). (Click the Clear Date button to clear an entered date if
necessary).
- Click the Date Entry Calendar icon to enter the new due date (see the System Basics User Guide for details).
- If appropriate, specify the desired time by which the item is due using the H (hour) and M (minute) menus and the AM/PM radio buttons.
- Click the Renew Selected button to renew the checkout for the selected
items.
- The Renew Items screen closes, and the Items Out page refreshes to show the new due date(s) for the renewed item(s).
