PAC ADMINISTRATION
Chapter 4. MANAGING RESOURCES
Viewing Search Resources
You can view a listing of resources currently available to your library.
To view search resources:
-
Select Search Resources from the PAC Admin menu (see
The PAC Admin Menu for details).
- The Search Resource screen displays, showing all currently available resources, in alphabetical order.
The Type column shows a two-character code indicating the search source type:
AG Union Catalog, (Auto-Graphics database)
AV VERSO Database
HP Hoopla
OD OverDrive
VS Library OPAC
WB Web Database
WL Web Link
WM OCLC WorldCat Database
WS Web Service
XL Reference Site
ZN Zinio
ZZ Virtual Library (Z39.50 Site)
The Name column shows the names of the available search resources.
The names of Z39.50 databases defined by the associated library are shown as links, allowing you to edit the definition for the associated database.
The names of web links defined by the associated library are shown as links, allowing you to edit the host (URL) and site name for the web link.
The names of all other databases (those defined as public or system-wide sources) are shown in plain type.
- The Details column displays staff and patron grouping information, if defined. If grouping information is not defined, the Details column shows the message Groups are not configured.
- The Lock column indicates whether or not library-level authentication is required when accessing the resource.
- The Results Order column shows the display priority (if assigned) for the associated search resource.
NOTE: You may set the display priority for your main AG database and up to five additional search resources (see Configuring Search Resources for details).
- A checkmark in the Default column indicates the associated search resource is a default search resource for the associated library, an indicates the associated search resource is not a default search resource for the associated library.
- The Guest, Patron, and Staff columns indicate user access permission. A checkmark indicates that the user type has access to the resource, an indicates that the resource is not available to that user type.
- The Edit column provides an Edit link that allows you to edit definitions for resources currently available to your library. If a resource is not currently added to your listing of available resources, this column provides an Add link allowing you to add the resource to the resource menu. See Configuring Search Resources for details.
- If desired, you can reconfigure, sort and filter table content (see the System Basics User Guide for details).
