Chapter 4. WORKING WITH PAGES AND WIDGETS
Working with Widgets
The Create a New Widget option lets you create “carousel” widgets for display on pages outside the RESEARCHit / SHAREit / VERSO system. Widgets are displayed in an inline frame (iframe) on the external page. When you create a widget, the system generates an HTML code “snippet” for retrieving the widget that can be copied and pasted into an external web page. Currently, one type of Widget is available:
- Showcase Carousel – lets you highlight selected items from your library’s catalog (for VERSO systems) or the Union catalog for your consortium (for RESEARCHit/SHAREit systems) using a “search query” you create to retrieve the desired items for display.
To create a new Widget:
-
From
the Pages and Widgets menu (see
Creating and Editing Pages
for details), select Create a Page Link.
- The Create New Widget panel displays.
- Enter a title for the widget in the Enter Widget Title text box. This field is mandatory.
- Click the Create Widget button.

screen to close the screen without saving your changes.)
