Modifying Circulation Permissions

When you add a new user and assign Circulation Staff permissions (see Adding a User for details), or when you click the Circ Permissions link on the Edit User Accounts screen (see Editing User Accounts for details), the Circulation Permissions screen displays. The Circulation Permissions screen shows the Circulation permissions currently granted to the user. You may grant or deny additional permissions as desired.

To modify Circulation Permissions:

Permission Definition
Patron Status & Checkout Allows the user to view patron status, check out items, and place reserves for items. If desired, you can configure the specific features and function available to the user through the Patron Checkout, Status & Reserves screen using the Patron Status & Checkout Detailed Permissions feature (see Modifying Patron Status & Checkout Detailed Permissions for details).
Checkin Allows the user to check in items returned to the library using "standard" checkin procedures.
Express Checkin Allows the user to check in items returned to the library using "express" checkin procedures.
Express Checkout Allows the user to check out items using "express" checkout procedures.
Express Checkout With Full Record Allows the user to access an abbreviated patron record and check out items using "express" checkout procedures.
Renew Checkout Allows the user to renew the loan period for one or more selected items.
Reserves Allows the user to view the Reserves submenu. User may be selectively granted permissions for the following functions:

View By Title

Allows the user to view a list of reserves placed for a specified title.

View All Reserves

Allows the user to view a list of all currently placed reserves for all titles.

View Patrons with Suspended Reserves

Allows the user to view a list of all patrons for whom reserves are currently suspended.

View Patrons with Expired Reserves

Allows the user to view a list of all patrons for whom one or more reserves have expired.

View Mediated

Allows the user to view a list of all “mediated” reserves (reserves requested by patrons that require approval by library staff).

Reserves with Available Copies

Allows the user to view a list of all reserves for which copies of the reserved title are currently available.

Reserves by Pickup Location

Allows the user to view a list of all reserves by the Pickup Location specified for the reserve.

View Expired Item Reserves

Allows the user to view a list of all expired item reserves for a selected library.

Move Reserves

Allows the user to move reserves associated with a selected “source” title to a selected “target” title.
Merge Users Allows the user to de-duplicate the user database by merging two “duplicate” user records into a single record.
Item Status Allows the user to view the current status of a specified item.
Add Item Allows the user to view the Add Item submenu. User may be selectively granted permissions for the following functions:

Add Item

Allows the user to add (attach) a new item to a bibliographic record in the library's database.

Set Add Defaults

Allows the user to set the default values for selected fields on the Add Item form.
In Transit Items Allows the user to view the In Transit Items submenu. User may be selectively granted permissions for the following functions:

To My Library

Allows the user to view a list of all items currently "in transit" from other libraries to the library under which the user logged in.

From My Library

Allows the user to view a list of all items currently "in transit" from the library under which the user logged in to other libraries.
Transfer Allows the user to view the Transfer submenu. User may be selectively granted permissions for the following functions:

Item Transfer

Allows the user to transfer a selected item from one library location to another. Transfers can be temporary or permanent.

Multiple Item Transfer

Allows the user to transfer multiple selected items from one library location to another. Transfers can be temporary or permanent.

Temporary Transfer Return

Allows the user to return temporarily transferred items to their permanent locations.

Branch Item Transfer

Allows the user to manage and process “rotating collections” (collections that are moved between branches) while “in transit.”

Branch Transfer Checkin

Allows the user to check in “inter-branch transfer” or “inter-library transfer” items.

Global Item Transfer

Allows the user to manage the global transfer of "circuit collections" (collections that are transferred "in whole" between libraries).
Items on Shelving Cart Allows the user to view a list of all items currently designated as "On Shelving Cart."
Circulation History Allows the user to access a listing of circulation transactions (check out or check in) for a specified report period.
Exceptions Allows the user to view the Exceptions submenu. User may be selectively granted permissions for the following functions:

Item Exceptions

Allows the user to change the exception (status) of a specified item.

Multiple Item Exceptions

Allows the user to change the exception (status) of multiple selected items.
Delete Patron Allows the user to delete a patron record from your database.
Add Brief Record Allows the user to add brief bibliographic and item records to your database.
Standalone Circ Utility Allows the user to upload and process circulation transactions recorded with the Standalone Circulation module (see the Standalone Circulation User Guide for more information).
Set Workstation Printer Allows the user to specify the workstations printer(s) to be used when printing receipts and other materials during checkout and checkin transactions.
Phone Notification History Allows the user to view Phone Notification History.

NOTE: Phone Notification is a purchasable enhancement, and may not be enabled for all systems.
