Chapter 6. FOR AUTHENTICATED USERS
Viewing Items on Hold
You can view a list of items for which you have requested a hold and items currently reserved for checkout for your account.
To view Items on Hold:
- Select Your Items – Items on Hold from the Your Account menu
(see
Using Your Account for details).
- The Items on Hold screen displays. The total number of currently active holds for your account is shown at the top of the screen.
- The Items on Hold screen shows a listing of all items for which you have requested a hold or that are currently reserved for checkout for your account. Each entry in the list shows the Title and Author for the item; the date on which the hold was placed (Reserve Date); your position in the reserve order (Place in Queue), the date on which the hold will expire (Expires on), and the Pickup Location (library name) for the item.
NOTE: For titles currently on “Checkout Reserve,” the notation [Reserve for Checkout] (title) is shown at the top of the entry, and the Pickup Location field includes both the library name and the reserve shelf for the location holding the title.
NOTE: For items for which the hold is currently suspended, the Place in Queue field is replaced by the Suspended Until date.
- Click an item in the list (for items checked out through your library or
through Hoopla) to view the Full Record Display for the title (see
Full Record Display and
Hoopla Full Record Display
for details).
NOTE: You cannot view the Full Record Display for items check out through OverDrive.
- Click the Go back icon to return to the Items On Hold screen.
- If desired, use the Filter By menu to configure the list to show All items, or to limit the list to Library Items Only.
- If desired, use the Sort By menu to re-sort the list by Title,
Author, Pickup Location, Status, Reserve Date, Place in Queue or Material.
NOTE: The default sort order for the Items On Hold screen is Title.
- In cases where more than 40 items are on hold for your account, use the <Previous, Next> and “page number” links to view other pages of the list.
- If your library has enabled the “Allow Patrons to Delete Reserves” feature, you can cancel one or more currently active holds (see Canceling a Hold for details).
- Click the Show Note button to view any notes associated with a
reserve.
- The Items on Hold - Notes page displays any notes associated with the selected reserve.
- The screen shows the Title of the item, the date on which the hold was placed (Reserve Date), any Messages and Responses (any notes related to the reserve entered by library staff (From Library) and any notes entered by you for library staff (From You)).
- Click the Back to Items on Hold link to return to the Items on Hold screen.

Click the Edit Note button to add or edit notes associated with a
reserve.
- The Items on Hold - Notes page displays any notes associated with the selected reserve you have entered. Notes are shown in an editable text box.
- Enter or edit text in the text box as desired.
- Click the Save Note button to save your changes.
- Click the Back to Items on Hold link to return to the Items on Hold screen.
- If you will be unable to pick up one or more reserved items for a period of time, you can “suspend” your reserves until a specified date (see Suspending Holds for details).
- For items placed on hold through Hoopla:
- For items reserved for checkout to your account, click the Checkout button to check out the item.
- The Hoopla “checked out response” page opens in an additional browser tab or window.
- To exit the Items On Hold screen, select another option from the Your Account menu, or, click the Home button in the screen header to return to your library’s “Home” page.
