Setting Floating Collection Limits

Floating Collection Limits sets the maximum number of “floating” items a library may have in its collections at any given time. In cases where the checkin of a “floating” item will cause a library to exceed its defined limit for “floating” items, the item is automatically placed “In Transit” to the Float Default location (see Managing Libraries for details).

To set Floating Collection Limits:

  1. image of Smart Float Limits ScreenFrom the Circ Admin menu, select Floating Collection Limits.
    • The Smart Float Limits screen displays. The screen shows a list of all locations in your system configured to Allow Float (see Managing Collections for details).
    • Each line in the listing provides the following information:
      • Collection Name – the name (library - branch - collection) of the library location
      • Collection Limit – the currently established maximum number of “floating” items allowed for the location
      • Collection Count – the number of “floating” items currently in the location (updated by the system daily during midnight processing)
