  2. In the Note column, click the Add Resource Note icon Add Resource Note Icon or Edit Resource Note icon Edit Resource Note Icon, as applicable, to the right of the resource to which you wish to add a resource note.

  1. Enter the full name of the resource in the Full Name text box. This field is mandatory.
  2. If desired, enter the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) for the resource (for example, the URL to a library's Home Page) in the URL text box.
    • When the resource note is viewed, the URL displays as a link. Clicking the URL link opens the associated page in an additional browser window.
  3. If desired, use the Window Attributes checkboxes to enable the attributes (Toolbar, Location, Status bar, MenuBar, Scrollbars, Resizable) you wish to apply to the browser window in which the Resource will display when the URL link is selected.
    • A checkmark checkmark indicates the associated attribute will be enabled for the Resource Note browser window.
    • An empty checkbox checkbox indicates the associated attribute will be disabled for the Resource Note browser window.
    • Clicking a checkbox will toggle it on and off.
  4. If you wish to include a logo in the resource note, select the desired logo from the Logo drop-down menu. If the desired logo is not listed in the Logo drop-down menu, you may upload a logo file to your library's logo directory.

NOTE: When preparing a logo file for upload, keep the following in mind:
    - The logo file must be prepared in either .GIF or .JPG format.
    - Image resolution should be set to 72 pixels/inch.
    - Displayed size of the logo in the resource note is 75 pixels high by 150 pixels wide. Oversize or undersize logos will be scaled to fit within this envelope.

    • To upload a logo:
      • Click the Browse button. A standard Find File dialog displays.
      • Locate the desired file, then click the Open button on the Find File dialog. The file name for the selected file displays next to the Browse button.
      • Click the Upload button. The screen refreshes and displays the message "Logo file: (filename) has been uploaded successfully".
    • If you do not wish to include a logo in the resource note, select None from the Logo drop-down menu.
  5. Enter the desired text for the resource note in the Note Text text box. You may enter Note Text as either raw "unformatted" text, or as HTML text. This field is mandatory.

NOTE: The resource note is intended to provide an overview of the related search source. Keep the Note Text brief and concise.

    • To enter an unformatted text note, enter the desired text in the Note Text text box. Entered text is shown as an unformatted text string when the resource note is displayed.
    • To enter an HTML-formatted resource note, either enter the desired HTML text directly into the Note Text text box, or use an external HTML editor to create the note, then cut and paste the HTML text into the Note Text text box. When creating an HTML-formatted resource note, keep the following in mind:
      • HTML text entered in the Note Text text box is not validated when the resource note is saved. It is recommended that you view and validate HTML text prior to entering or pasting it into the Note Text text box.
      • Some HTML features and functions are not supported by all web browsers. Exercise care when using such features and functions to ensure consistent display between web browsers.
      • Background images and graphics cannot be imbedded in the HTML text contained in the Note Text text box. If you wish to include background images or graphics in the resource note, the image files must be saved to a local server, and absolute references to the images must be included in the HTML text.

NOTE: Including background images or graphics in the resource note as described above may affect display time.

      • If you wish to include links to other pages in your resource note, be sure to configure the links to display in an additional browser window.
  6. When all desired information has been entered, click the Submit button to save the resource note.
