Chapter 6. CUSTOMER SUPERUSER
Viewing System-Wide Resources
You can view a listing of system-wide resources currently defined for your consortium or collective.
To view system-wide resources:
- Select Public Search Resources from the PAC Admin menu (see The PAC Admin Menu for details). The Public Search Resources screen displays.
- The Public Search Resources screen shows a listing of all search sources
(Impact databases, subscription databases, reference databases, Z39.50
databases, etc.) currently available for your consortium or collective.

The Type column shows a two-character code indicating the search source type:
AG – Union Catalog (Auto-Graphics database)
AV – VERSO Database
HP – Hoopla
OD – OverDrive
VS – Library OPAC
WB – Web Database
WL – Web Link
WM – OCLC WorldCat Database
WS – Web Service
XL – Reference Site
ZN – Zinio
ZZ – Virtual Library (Z39.50 Site)
- The DataID column shows the unique database identification number for all reference databases and web services in the list. A "0" is shown for all other resources.
- The Name column shows the names of all search sources currently available for your consortium or collective, in alphabetic order.
- The names of Z39.50 databases are shown as links, allowing you to edit the definition for the associated database.
- The names of reference and subscription databases are shown as links, allowing you to edit the database name and authentication information for the associated database.
- The names of web links are shown as links, allowing you to edit the host (URL) and site name for the web link.
- The names of all other databases are shown in "plain" type. The definitions for these databases cannot be edited.
- The Note column lets you add, edit or delete resource notes for the associated search source (see the Managing Resource Notes and Database Descriptions for details).
- If desired, you can reconfigure, sort and filter table content (see the System Basics User Guide for details).

- Use the scrollbar to scroll through the entire list.
- If desired, use the Show menu to show only those search sources of a
selected type and/or usage; either Z39.50 Search Sources Only, Z39.50 Shelf
Status Only, Reference Sources Only or Weblink Sources Only (select
All Search
Sources from the Show menu to view all available search sources).
- The Public Search Resources screen refreshes to display the appropriate search sources.
NOTE: When either the Z39.50 Search Sources Only or Z39.50 Shelf Status Only option is selected from the Show menu, search sources configured for usage as Both Search & Shelf Status (see Adding and Editing Z39.50 Search Sources for details) will display in both listings.
- From the Public Search Resources screen, you may choose to:
- Add a new web link
- Edit the definition for an existing web link
- Delete a web link
- Add a new system-wide Z39.50 search source
- Edit the definition for an existing system-wide Z39.50 search source
- Edit the name and/or authentication information for a system-wide reference search source
- Define shelf status mapping
- Delete a system-wide Z39.50 search source
- Add a new resource note
- Edit an existing resource note
- Delete a resource note
