Chapter 4. MANAGING RESOURCES
Adding or Editing Authentication Information
When a reference source or Z39.50 resource has been configured for Library Authentication, authentication information for the resource must be entered at the local level. Access to authentication information is made available from the Search Resources screen (see Viewing Search Resources for details). Resources requiring Library Authentication are indicated by a Lock icon in the column to the right of the Details column. You can add or edit authentication information for a single selected database, or you can use the Master function to add or edit authentication information for all library-authenticated databases.
To add or edit authentication information for a single database:

From
the Search Resources screen (see
Viewing Search Resources for details), click the
Lock
icon for the resource for which you wish to add or edit authentication
information.
- The Library Authentication screen displays in an additional browser window.
- Enter or edit the appropriate authentication information in the User ID, Password and/or Group ID text boxes, as necessary. This information will be used for authentication when the search source is accessed by any patron from your library.
- When all appropriate information has been entered, click the Submit button to save your changes, then click the Back button to close the Library Authentication screen and return to the Search Resources screen.
To add or edit authentication information using the Master function:

From the Search Resources screen (see
Viewing Search Resources for details), click the
Master button .
- The Master Authentication screen displays.
- The screen displays a list of all library-authenticated databases, in alphabetic order.
- Enter or edit the appropriate authentication information for each database
in the associated User ID, Password and/or Group ID text boxes, as necessary.
This information will be used for authentication when the search source is
accessed by any patron from your library.
- If the same authentication information is used for more than one database, you can use the Copy and Paste functions to enter the information. Click the Copy button for the database from which you wish to copy authentication information, then click the Paste button for each database to which you wish to add the copied authentication information.
- When all appropriate information has been entered, click the Submit button to save your changes, then click the Back button to close the Library Authentication screen and return to the Search Resources screen.
