Setting the Workstation Printer

The Set Workstation Printer option lets you specify the workstation printer(s) to be used when printing receipts and other materials.

To install the Print Client:

NOTE: A one-time download of the Print Client is required on each workstation used for Cataloging activities to use this feature. If your workstation is not currently configured with the Print Client, a Download Print Client message displays when you select Set Workstation Printer from the Cat Admin menu. You must install the Print Client before you can make printer settings for your workstation.

  1. Select Set Workstation Printer from the CAT Admin menu.
    • The Download Print Client message displays.

  1. Click the Download Print Client link, and use the standard procedures for your browser to download the AgPrintFormat.exe file to your workstation. Be sure to make note of the location in which you save the file.
  2. Double click the AgPrintFormat.exe icon.
    • A Run Confirmation message displays.
  3. Click Yes on the Run Confirmation message to launch the InstallShield Wizard.
    • A status dialog displays while the InstallShield Wizard loads. The InstallShield “Welcome” dialog displays when loading is complete.
  4. Click the Next button on the InstallShield “Welcome” dialog to continue.
    • The “Setup Type” dialog displays.
  5. Select the Complete radio button, then click the Next button.
    • The “Ready to Install” dialog displays.
  6. Click the Install button on the “Ready to Install” dialog to install the Print Client.
    • A status dialog displays while the Print Client is installed.
    • When the installation is complete, the InstallShield Wizard “Complete” dialog displays.
  7. Click the Finish button to close the InstallShield Wizard.

NOTE: The first time you select Set Workstation Printer after installing the Print Client, a Launch Application dialog displays (the layout and options of this dialog will vary between web browsers). Select the “Remember my choice” (or similar) checkbox, then click the “OK” (or similar) button to configure the Print Client for use on your workstation.

To set the workstation printer:

  1. Select Set Workstation Printer from the CAT Admin menu.
    • The Set Workstation Printers screen displays.

  1. Configure the workstation printers for checkout transactions using the Checkout Printer Setup options:
    • Select the desired printers for Checkout Receipt Printing and Payment Receipt Printing from the printer menus. Enter the appropriate paper width (in inches) in the associated text boxes.
      • Specify fractional values for paper width in decimal format (e.g., enter "8-1/2 inches" as “8.5").
  2. Configure the workstation printers for checkin transactions using the Checkin Printer Setup options:
    • Select the desired printers for In Transit Receipt and Reserves Receipt printing from the printer menus. Enter the appropriate paper width (in inches) in the associated text boxes.
      • Specify fractional values for paper width in decimal format (e.g., enter "8-1/2 inches" as “8.5").
  3. Configure the workstation printers for printing labels using the Label Printer Setup options:

    NOTE: Labels are printed using either the Page Labels printer or the Dymo 450 Labels printer. These printers are mutually exclusive.

    • Select the desired printer for page labels from the Page Labels menu.
      • The default width for page labels is set to 8.5x11. This value cannot be changed.
    • Select the desired printer for Dymo 450 labels from the Dymo 450 Labels menu.
    • To enable the Dymo 450 Labels printer for printing, click the Enable Dymo Printing button. To disable the Page Labels printer for printing, click the Disable Dymo Printing button.
  4. When all workstation printer options have been specified, click the Save Selections button to save your changes.
    • A confirmation dialog displays the message “Workstation printers set.” Click the OK button to close the dialog and return to the Set Workstation Printers screen.

NOTE: You can return the page widths for all printers to their default values using the Set Default Sizes button.
