Chapter 2. CHECK OUT AND CHECK IN
Viewing Current Checkout Transactions
Click the Checkout tab at the top of the Patron Checkout, Status & Reserves screen to display the Checkout page. The Items Checked Out on (date) field lists all checkout transactions, including “hard” reserves placed for a patron that occurred on the current calendar date. Checkout transactions are initially listed in reverse chronological order (most recent checkout first).
The Items Checked Out on (date) field provides the following information for each currently checked out item:
- Title – the title of the item checked out to the patron
NOTE: Each item for which a “hard” reserve has been placed is preceded by the notation “[Reserved]”, shown in red. If the reserve has expired, the notation “[Reserve Expired]” is shown.
- Author – the author of the associated title
- Barcode – the barcode for the associated item
NOTE: The Barcode serves as a link to the Item Status function (see Viewing Item Status for details).
- Call No. – the call number for the associated item
- Due Date – the date (and time for hourly checkout items) by which the item
is due for return to the library; items with an “indefinite” due date show the
message “INDEF”
NOTE: The Due Date serves as a link to the Modify Due Date function, which allows an alternate due date to be specified for the item (see Changing Due Dates and Times for details).
The following fields are applicable only to items for which a “hard” reserve has been placed
- Expire Date – the date on which the “hard” reserve for an item will expire
- Patron Note – any patron note included with a reserve request
- Staff Reserve Note – any staff note included with a reserve request
- Notes – allows library staff to add or edit reserve notes (see Working with Reserve Notes for details)
NOTE: Items shown in the Items Checked Out on (date) field are added to the Items Out page immediately upon checkout.
If desired, you can reconfigure, sort and filter list content (see the System Basics User Guide for details).
