Viewing Lost and Claimed Returned Items

Click the Lost and Claims Return Items link on the Items Out page (see Viewing Items Out for details) to view items registered as lost against the patron. The Lost and Claims Return Items page lists all items declared “lost” or “claimed returned” by the patron. Lost and Claims Return Items are initially listed in alphabetic order, by title.

The Lost and Claims Return Items page provides the following information for each item declared “lost” or “claimed returned”:

• Title – the title of the item declared “lost” or claimed returned
• Author – the author of the associated title
• Barcode – the barcode for the associated item

  NOTE: The Barcode serves as a link to the Item Status function (see Viewing Item Status for details).

• Call Number – the call number for the associated item
• Fines – the total amount in fines levied against the patron for the item
• Status – the current status of the item; either Patron Lost or In Claimed Returned. The Status field allows library staff to convert and item declared Patron Lost to In Claimed Returned, and vice versa (see Converting Lost or Claimed Returned Items for details)
• Date – the date on which the item was declared “lost” or “claimed returned”
• Checkout Location – the library location from which the item was checked out

NOTE: The Lost and Claims Return Items page provides access to the Patron Found Book function, allowing a “lost” or “claimed returned” declaration to be cleared in the event the item is returned to the library (see Managing Lost Items for details).

If desired, you can re-sort the Lost and Claims Return Items list according to a selected sort key.

• Position the cursor on the column head by which you wish to sort the list.
• Click the icon to display the sort menu. Select the desired option:
  • Select Sort Ascending to sort the list in ascending order according to the selected sort key.
  • Select Sort Descending to sort the list in descending order according to the selected sort key.
  • Select Remove Sort for a previously selected sort key to return the list to the default sort order.
• If desired, click the Print button to print a copy of the Lost and Claims Return Items list (see Printing Items Out for details).
• Click the Items Out link to return to the Items Out page.
