Managing Hotlinks

Full Record Displays for MARC records retrieved from a Union Catalog includes hotlinks for certain fields, allowing the user to perform additional searches by selecting links in the bibliographic data. The optional Record Display Hotlinks function lets you specify the MARC tags that will serve as hotlinks in the Full Record Display for MARC records retrieved from any bibliographic database (Union Catalog, Z39.50 database, etc.).

When a user selects a hotlink from a Full Record Display, the system automatically submits an Advanced Search of all previously selected databases using a search term created by extracting data from specified subfields of the associated MARC tag.

The system includes a default selection of pre-configured MARC tags. Using Record Display Hotlinks, you can:

Add a new record display hotlink
Edit an existing record display hotlink
Delete a record display hotlink

NOTE: You can create hotlinks for Title, Author, Subject and Title Series type MARC tags only.
