Chapter 8. CATALOGING FUNCTIONS

Using Catalog Search

Catalog Search screen lets you perform a “quick” search of your library’s main catalog based on the search term(s) you enter (see Entering Search Terms for details) to locate titles for catalog maintenance activities.

To search the catalog:

  1. Access the Catalog Search screen (see Accessing Catalog Maintenance for details).
  2. Enter your search term(s) in the Search Term text box (see Entering Search Terms for details).
  3. Select the library you wish to search from the Scoping Level menu. You may:
    • Select All Libraries to search all libraries in your system.
    • Select Use Library Default to search libraries associated with the default scoping level defined for your library (see the PAC Administration User Guide for details).
    • Select a single library.
  4. Click the Search button to submit your search.

NOTE: If you have not entered a Search Term, the Search button is disabled.

    • When the search is completed, the screen refreshes to display the search results screen (see Viewing the Search Results List for details).

NOTE: If your search does not return results, the message “No Results” displays. Modify your Search Term and/or Scoping Level selection and click the Search button to resubmit your search.
