Chapter 8. CATALOGING FUNCTIONS
Using Catalog Search
Catalog Search screen lets you perform a “quick” search of your library’s main catalog based on the search term(s) you enter (see Entering Search Terms for details) to locate titles for catalog maintenance activities.
To search the catalog:
- Access the Catalog Search screen (see Accessing Catalog Maintenance for details).
- Enter your search term(s) in the Search Term text box (see Entering Search Terms for details).
- Select the library you wish to search from the Scoping Level menu.
You may:
- Select All Libraries to search all libraries in your system.
- Select Use Library Default to search libraries associated with the default scoping level defined for your library (see the PAC Administration User Guide for details).
- Select a single library.
- Click the Search button to submit your search.
NOTE: If you have not entered a Search Term, the Search button is disabled.
- When the search is completed, the screen refreshes to display the search
results screen (see
Viewing the Search Results
List for details).
- If you search by barcode and the search returns a single match, the Edit Item screen for the matching item displays (see Editing an Item (using Catalog Maintenance) for details).
NOTE: If your search does not return results, the message “No Results” displays. Modify your Search Term and/or Scoping Level selection and click the Search button to resubmit your search.
- When the search is completed, the screen refreshes to display the search
results screen (see
Viewing the Search Results
List for details).
