Chapter 8. CATALOGING FUNCTIONS
Managing Items
The Manage Items function lets you view a list of item records associated with a selected bibliographic record. From the Manage Items screen, you can add a new item record to the associated bibliographic record, edit an existing item record for the associated bibliographic record, or delete an existing item from the associated bibliographic record.
To view the Manage Items screen:
- On an active search results list (see
Viewing the Search Results List
for details), click the Menu icon
for the
title for which you wish to view item records.
- A menu of available options displays.
- Select Manage Items.
- The Manage Items screen displays.
- A “book jacket” and brief bibliographic information for the title are shown in the top left corner of the screen. Brief bibliographic information includes the Title, Author, Publisher, International Standard Book Number (ISBN), and Control Number (AGCN).
- If your library owns one or more copies of the title, an Owned by my Library icon is shown in the top right corner of the screen.
- o The screen shows a list of all item records associated with the selected bibliographic record. .By default, each entry in the list shows the Barcode, Library, Branch, Collection, Call Number and current Status for each item.
NOTE: If there are no item records associated with the selected title, or, if there are no records available to your user account associated with the selected title, the message “No holdings to show” displays.
- Use the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen to set the number of items shown on each page of the search results list and view other pages of the list:
- Use the Items per page menu to set the number of titles shown on each page of the search results list; 10, 25, 50, 100 or 250.
NOTE: The default Items per page selection is 50.
NOTE: Any changes made to the Items per page selection are valid for your current session only. The Items per page selection reverts to the default value on logout.
Use the Previous Page button and Next Page button to scroll the list one page at a time.
Use the First Page button and Last Page button to scroll to the first or last page of the list.
- If desired, you can reconfigure, sort and filter list content (see the System Basics User Guide for details).
- Click the Add Item button to add a new item record for the associated title (see Adding an Item for details).
- Click the Edit Item button for an item in the list to edit the associated item record (see Editing an Item for details).
- Click the Menu icon and select Edit Bib Record to edit the associated bibliographic record (see Editing a Bib Record for details).
